Hooks and Weights

Born and raised in the Philippines, I saw first-hand the struggle of parents to provide food for their families. Amongst many tough labors, fishing is one of the most common livelihoods in the Philippines. This series is a portrayal of that struggle. Each object represents a member of the family - The weights represent the children and the hook represents the parents. The middle image displays the struggle of the hook while the weights hang onto the hook, showing the adversities families in the Philippines go through and the perseverance that these families have.
